Raised on a farm in northern Wisconsin, Dawn developed a deep
appreciation of the natural environment at an early age.  Crayons
were her medium of choice as a child.  Dawn always loved to draw and
always wished to paint, but chose a career path that took her into
teaching and later counseling.  Upon early retirement in 2001, Dawn
enrolled in a painting class at the Wustum Museum of Art in Racine,
Wisconsin, and never looked back. "I've always been passionate about
environmental conservation.  Painting allows me to communicate my
love and concern for the natural environment."

Dawn moved to Cottonwood, Arizona in 2003 and has continued to refine
her skills at the Sedona Arts Center, and  the Fechin Art Institute
in Taos, New Mexico.  "There is an inexhaustible supply of beauty and
such varied landscape in Arizona; one could spend a lifetime
exploring all the painting opportunities and challenges this state
has to offer."  When Dawn is not painting in her Jerome studio, she
can be found outdoors painting the natural beauty and splendor of the
red rocks, sycamore-filled creek beds, or vast expanses of desert and
chaperall.  Dawn participates with a group of noted plein air
painters in the Verde Valley, tackling a new location every month.
"Each adventure, every painting is an opportunity to explore the
nuances of light and shadow and the challenge of communicating both
the strength and fragility of the earth."

Dawn shows her work at Pura Vida Gallery in Jerome, Arizona.
