Founding Member 2008
Linda Dellandres' oils and pastels reflect her love of light, earth, and water. Whether impressionistic plein air, or tightly rendered studio landscapes, her goal is to convey the feelings of a place. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Linda attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, and continued her studies at Northern Arizona University where she was on the Dean’s List in the studio fine art painting program. Linda has primarily focused on pastels in recent years, calling it “a painting medium similar to oil, in color and movement, but easier to manipulate. It is so immediate, there is no brush between my fingers and the pigment, to get in the way of where I want my marks to be.” Linda Dellandre was drawn to Arizona by its light, open spaces and beautiful canyons. She is inspired by “the glow of color on Sedona’s red rocks, land vistas with enormous clouds, water reflections in Oak Creek, and the varied tree forms of the Southwest. Linda achieved national recognition in 2006, by being juried into several prestigious exhibitions. These included the American Juried Online Art Salon, the Pastel Society of the West Coast National Show, The Maryland Pastel show, and the Pastel Society of New Mexico.
2007 has seen even greater success, with a
top level award from the Chicago Pastel Painters, a 1st
place award by her peers at the Arizona State Parks 50th
anniversary Plein Air paint-out in June, and was voted “Artists
Choice” Best of the Quick Draw, at the Frank Bette Center for the
Arts in Alameda Calif., |
